The vineyards are located in ancient Thracian lands in the surroundings of Brestovitsa, where nature, centuries-old winegrowing traditions, and mystical antiquity blend into a unique atmosphere.
The area where the vineyards are grown today was once part of the bottom of an ancient world ocean known to science as Tethys. Part of the uniqueness of the terroir is due to the fact that one of the most fertile alluvial soils on the Balkan Peninsula is found here.
It is no secret that the exceptional qualities of the grapes, which determine the uniqueness of the wine, are due to the terroir. Located at the foothills of the Rhodope Mountains and in close proximity to the Vacha River, the vineyards benefit from year-round air circulation that supports the proper development of the vines.
This is also a place where we have witnessed some of the lowest temperatures. In 2012, the temperature dropped to minus 28.5°C, which is devastating for the vine. Yet here it did not have a negative impact, because we followed the viticultural practices inherited from our ancestors.
Today, climate changes are extremely dynamic, summers are becoming increasingly hotter, and rainfall is unevenly distributed.

The challenge we faced years ago – the low temperatures – is today our greatest ally. Our terroir is characterized by temperatures that are exactly two degrees lower than those in the surrounding area.
Thanks to this, the conditions remain optimal, right in the golden balance for growing exceptional grapes with the desired qualities, from which we produce wines that carry the individual character of the terroir of this land.

Undoubtedly, the most special moment of the year for us is the harvest. The grapes we select from our vineyards are hand-picked in specially prepared containers that prevent crushing, bruising, and damage to the integrity of the berries.
A small part of the secret behind our wine lies in the organization of the harvest. For us, it is extremely important to minimize the time between the moment the grape cluster is picked and the moment it is crushed, as well as to ensure that this process takes place as close as possible to the vineyard itself. In this way, we strive to preserve as much as possible of the freshness and the natural characteristics of the grapes, which are then transferred to the wine during the subsequent winemaking process.
